car happiness, driving a bus

In the last month we purchased a car.
A lovely commodore that is blue {of course}, that is stylish and great to drive.

I love it. It has eight seats and I can fit in it with my seven cherubs.
The car I normally drive is a commuter bus.

This is what it looks like:

We have great fun in this bus.
I wrote a post about driving it here called Does my butt look big with this bus?

Since purchasing our new car I have noticed that my kids fight and fight whenever they are in it.
It has been a real surprise to me.

They sit a lot closer together, they argue over who is going to sit where and I feel like it is a miserable experience going anywhere with them in it. Whenever I am driving I seem to spend most of my time sorting out disputes and think I am heading for a car accident with all the carry on that happens.

My good old bus is where the happiness is at and what the kids love.
They don't care about what our car looks like and have the most fun with what we already have.

So I am back to driving around my bus and feeling safer and happier.

I have been looking for new ideas to spruce my bus up {I still want to paint it blue} and think I have found just the paint job we need:

So what do you think?

  1. Hi Naomie!
I am a newbie on Aussie Mummy Bloggers and also a mum of a large family (six children with twin girls at the end of the mix!).
I have really enjoyed browsing through your blog and especially love your tips for happiness.
I hear you with your desire for a tidy and organised house - and the laundry (oh goodness - yes it is huge). There are certainly good and bad days and I too need to tell myself that my happiness is not dependant on when everything is in order and perfect (as if it can be with lots of precious children). Your cherubs look gorgeous and are obviously adored. Bless you. Catherine

  2. I think you should get a big sticker for the back window/bumper that says

THIS BUS CONTAINS SEVEN CHERUBS AND AT LEAST ONE ANGEL.

  3. We have outgrown our van. It seats eight and with the seven kids now, it works just fine as long as my husband isn't with us or as long as one of the kids doesn't have a friend along. I am also finding that with all the kids being so squishy in the van, the noise level and fighting make it pretty distracting for me to drive.

I agree with the above comment about you needing that bumper sticker!

  4. ha! ha! love the sticker idea...I wonder if I could get one made up...too funny :)

yes Sharla - I understand your pain - we went for the bus because we were sick of taking 2 cars everywhere - so much more fun with the whole family in the car!
