I am seeking calmness, peace and a little free time. So not going to happen right now but I can dream a little...
This week I took the three youngest off for a delightful walk down our street on a 'flower discovery' adventure and had a great time. Pictures will of course come later!
Most exciting of all has been that after 12 years of changing nappies non-stop my time and season of nappies is finally OVER. Can you believe it? I can't believe it! I am so loving it!
Liberty has been a dream to toilet train. I had a little chat with her about being a big girl now and took the nappies off and have not put them back on once! There have been several accidents {to be expected} over the past week and I was shocked at night when I put her to bed that she did not wet the bed...at all! Every day I would get up expecting that her bed would be wet and I would find it dry...what a blessing.
So with all this free time and money {seriously we could have bought an investment property with all the money we have spent on nappies} I am looking forward to directing my time to some other joyous pursuits.
*insert serious crazy dance*
I don't have to buy nappies,
I don't have to change nappies,
I am nappy free!
So to celebrate I thought I needed to do a Giveaway.
My first one ever.
As I am participating in blogtoberfest this month and they are doing a bunch of giveaways I thought I should jump on the giving, sharing bandwagon too!
After pondering what I should giveaway I decided it should be something for mothers to help them in their mothering and something that I love - therefore it had to be a mothering book.
So here it is and here are the guidelines:
It is a wonderful book written by Shawni Pothier from 71 toes with her mother about the keys to making motherhood memorable, meaningful and Magnificent!
{I will tell you more about it over the next couple of weeks}

Congrats on your first giveaway and what a prize.....that book looks very informative and I can't wait to win it....seriously though, sharing one of my secrets..where do I start??
ReplyDeleteWell, it doesn't matter if your first baby is textbook, and you do everything to the letter, by the third baby, things may be off the rails but it doesn't matter, because YOU are more relaxed by then and the most important things will matter, that is, you have a happy healthy baby....
Hi Naomi. Wow, lucky you! No more nappies ever. I can only dream about that after our four year old is only just night dry and our 11 month old twin girls are - well - only 11 months old! When I had my first child I was adamant I was going to use cloth nappies and never, ever, use disposables. That lasted 6 weeks and my house constantly smelt of poo!
ReplyDeleteHow have you coped with the holidays? I love the 'flower walk'. We do that too! Flowers and colour make me happy and some days I need all the help I can get!
Bless you and have a great day.
Catherine
I can't wait to be rid of nappies! As far as mothering tips, the best that I can offer is try not to feel guilty about the little things - we're all doing the best we can!
ReplyDeleteWell congrats to U naomi for getting past the nappy stage... It is wonderful...and life chaging for the pocket :o) My mother secret is that if you rise early each day u get a little bit of quiet to do those little things just for u...and as each child wakes you get to be first to say good morning - what more could u ask for...
ReplyDeleteBethany
This sounds like a neat book. I'm following you - and congrats on being nappy-free!
ReplyDeleteI like you on facebook (maryanne mamasmilesblog)
ReplyDeleteMy Mother Secret is to actually watch my children's faces when I'm trying to teach them something - their expression says a lot about whether or not they are understanding, probably especially with very young children.
ReplyDeleteCONGRATS ! on freedom frm nappies!
ReplyDelete1 thing i've learned?
be consistent ~ follow thru on whatever you say ..
and enjoy them while you have them!
oh you lucky thing! I went to bed last night thinking we've done 4 1/2 years of straight nappies and about to enter into another 2 or so more! And I love 71 toes so much so I hope I win.
ReplyDeleteNow a mothering secret........well I think it would have to be that tomorrow is a new day. No matter what has happened the day before, no matter how challenging it was or how messy it was or how cranky you got that when your little ones wake up you can start fresh and they still love you and will cuddle you and you have the whole day ahead of you! best thing about being a mummy I think - my children have very short memories!
ok better go and follow you on facebook now and mention the giveaway too!
corrie:)
Oh I hear you!! We are on the home stretch too with nappies - feels so good!!! I am now following your blog (now that I found it! Yay!!) I posted in my side bar also and my only mothering secret/tip is that I our family has boundaries and guidelines From The Word of God - this helps us in every situation :-)
ReplyDeleteWow you must feel like you are on holiday now you don't have to change (or buy) any more nappies! Maybe put the money towards a holiday :)
ReplyDeleteAnyway, after much thought I just wanted to remind us all that we are the expert in our child - others can give advice but we always know when something is just no right. And we need to listen to that more. And nothing beats hearing "I love you Mummy!".
Mother secrets?! Just stay calm as much as possible. Avoid 'parental tantrums' and set an example for your kids. Even though it's easier said than done. I feel like a confident mother most days, but others - I wish someone would swoop in and just help me! So I think asking for help would be another secret!
ReplyDeleteThanks for including me in your giveaway! And happy no-nappy days! I'm still a couple of years away from that!
It looks like a great book.
ReplyDeleteMothering tips: Remember to take a little time out for yourself.
Yay on no nappies !!!
ReplyDeleteMy mother's secret is to always be grateful ...breathe deeply and remember always that "This, too will pass."
As bad as it gets , it will always
get better (hopefully not worse ...)in 5 mins
Take each day as it comes don't think too far ahead and be grateful for the blessing of children.
Our first son was by adoption ...he was 13 months old and the light of our life.
Our surprise daughter arrived 11 years later sadly stillborn ...
Our little rainbow babies were the icing on the cake (one day I'll make that rainbow cake for them.)
It was tough having two little babies ;) at once, thrown in at the deep end and all being our first newborns but what immense joy they brought and I couldn't have wished for less sleep.
Ps we have a lot of that :D happening in our house.
how fabulous for no more nappies! I haven't had to change, (or buy) a nappy since Feb 2009 when my DS announced on his third birthday that there would be no more night nappies!! I used cloth and dispoables with all four. Thank goodness for MCN with the last two. My secret is to read to babies, from birth, everyday, even if it is the same book every day, or the newspaper out loud, or the TV guide....anything! Join your local library for free books to read, and often there are library activities. Reading is such a great thing to do with your children. It is nurturing, relaxing and enjoyable. A child must rip a book to know how not to rip a book! I will follow you on my blog too. smiles
ReplyDeleteI'm a new follower! Love your blog1
