ipods and icecream

ipods

With the recent storms we have had, one of my little men has been having trouble coping. He loves the rain but hates the thunder. It just scares him to hear all that rumbling and tumbling in the sky.

I was delighted to see him solve his own problem.

He came to me with an ipod asking if he could wear it so he would not be able to hear the thunder.

Normally I would not allow a little one to wear an ipod for several hours at a time but this was a special circumstance and he happily sat on our couch listening to music and loving the storm!

No tears, no screams just a happy cherub bopping away to music.

icecream

With the first week of the school holidays down and our family spending time shopping, cleaning and preparing for family to arrive it has been a little 'stressful' to say the least.

It has been a blessing to have a little icecream in the freezer.

A small bowl of icecream seems to calm the nerves, unite the family, help us talk and connect with each other again and sweeten the taste buds.

A small gift for hard work and a simple quick fix that feels like it solves all family problems.

  1. Love your Christmas header!
    Classic.
O poor little guy, scared of the thunder. We don't get a lot of it here in NZ

  2. 2 super simple, yet lovely things to be grateful for!
    Haven't these storms been horrific?!

  3. Oh how cute are you 7 cheub santas!! My children sleep through storms, honestly, blows my mind. They were all born in the tropics, so maybe Canberra storms can't compete with the dramatic thunder & light show of Darwin in the wet?? Love Posie

  4. I totally agree about the ice cream. It does make family life better.

It is interesting to read about Christmas in summer since here in the States we have it in winter and part of the celebration seems to be about snow and wanting a white Christmas and all. It sure is neat to connect with other moms around the world.

  5. I have two storm haters ... I will try that next time. We had a huge suddent rain downpoor overnight. Jumped up so fast because I thought there would be screaming ... only to find the all still soundly sleeping. Must learn how to stop that jumping outta bed thing!!

  6. Gorgeous! I love the seven little Santas in your header as well. My oldest son used to worry about thunder - until clever Gran told him it was just the angels doing the gardening and rumbling their wheelbarrows about in the sky. Hard to be scared of some green thumb angels.

  7. Nice and simple! :) Great problem solving on your LO's account, too. Thunder's just so unavoidable, unfortunately for those who don't cope well with it (like my dog)

  8. Ice cream has got to be my favourite part of Summer. I make sure not to eat it unless it's a hot day (otherwise, disaster!). x

  9. I used to be terrified of storms, too. What a clever little guy to come up with his own solution!
And I love ice cream in Summer. Especially around Christmas time.

  10. What a clever solution to thunder-fear.
Not sure that ice-cream will be my solution to thunder-thighs though!?!
