Miracles....
I have a son who is a good singer. His voice is lovely and I love to hear him sing around the house.
He however prefers sport to the school choir and turned down his spot to participate in the choir.
His music teacher noticed his talent and waited patiently for the right moment to once again invite him to join the choir. He accepted.
{My tongue now has a permanent scar across the middle of it from all the biting I have done!}
Much to our delight at a recent school event we were surprised to see this son stand tall and confident and sing a solo to the audience of students and parents.
In our eyes - a small miracle.
How thankful we are to a teacher who encouraged, supported and invited.
Mates.....
Over the past 2 years our son has been in an all boys class with the same teacher.
It has been a wonderful experience and he has made some great life long mates.
To celebrate the ending of this class I had a moment of insanity or brilliant parenting {whichever way you want to look at it!} and decided we should invite the whole class over for a pool party to end the year on.
What awesome boys and what a great party.
It was pouring with rain and they had the best time!
They organised themselves into teams and started playing backyard Soccer.
They spent time rotating between the pool and the game.
As you can see it became quite muddy!
Our backyard will never be the same.
Neither will the boys.
In our house we are growing memories and children,

Ooh, i so like that last statement. As it should be. You got a very talented & happy boy. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteAwww, what a great post! And a fab photo of the boys, what fantastic memories of that day they are going to have!
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I love your header with all the 'santas'!
I love it, we have muddy little boys at our farm too ...though not much grass.
ReplyDeleteI so agree on the growing memories and children !
You are sure to be voted the mother of the year !
Awesome !
Beautiful. I love your comment about the grass - so true!
ReplyDeleteOMGosh! Boys will be boys huh?!! I have 4 of my own little dudes...and they would have LOVED that mud bogging disaster! THe dirtier the better is the motto at our house. Good job, mama, letting them have a blast and worrying about the mess later!

ReplyDeleteLove that!! Every now and then, I give in and do a big party and it is always a good thing. I love the class of all boys. That would never happen in the US. But it seems like a great idea.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed this post so much. It just seems to capture what life is all about. Growing memories and children, not grass. Classic.
ReplyDeleteLOVE your header. x
Firstly I would like to say that I absolutely LOVE your blog. It's GORGEOUS!

What a lovely gift for your son to be able to sing! You must be so proud of him being in the school choir and all. I know I would be!
And your picture's this week are classic! I do feel for your poor backyard though! :D
Have a great w/e x
No doubt they will all remember that end of year adventure for many years to come. Life is for living and your doing and encouraging young minds to do just that! Enjoy :)
ReplyDeletethanks for all the kind comments and support for the awesome activity we had!
ReplyDeletewe are working out a plan to fix up the backyard and are not too fussed about it!
I love the all boys/all girls class concept especially in the older years of primary school.
ReplyDeleteYour post is testament to the great camaraderie that can result and the pictures show some very happy lads doing what they enjoy most, getting down and dirty!
If I've said it once, I've said it a million times, you are an exceptional Mum and this party is one more small piece of evidence to add to the very large pile.

Good On You for taking the Plunge & Inviting All of His Mates...They will Remember this Day for many years to come....and your Son will be Very Grateful that You Did...
ReplyDeletecheers
I SO need to print out "we are growing memories and children, not grass" and put it on my fridge :) It's so true that we need to let our kids explore and play and not worry so much about the 'creative' mess caused in the process!! Loved this!
ReplyDeleteoh I love your final sentence!!
ReplyDeleteThe photos reminded me of pool parties that I had at my house when I was a kid. My parents were also insane or brilliant. I once had 30 kids in my 15' para pool making a whirlpool. It only took a couple of laps around the pool for it to create a HUGE whirly.
I will never forget those parties. Neither will your kids.
Luckily we didn't have grass.
So true I often say to my husband I want to have experiences to create memories and so our son will be filled with good memories to have with him all his life. Other things come and go but memories are always with us. Charmaine
ReplyDeletehow incredibly awesome! (in the true meaning of the word!)
ReplyDeleteI am working on making our house friend-friendly...especially as we hurtle towards the festive season. I think it is brilliant you invited the whole class home - not a hint of insanity! xxxCate
