Why do you love your blog?

I have been pondering over my blog and why I love blogging so much.
Some of the answers I have come up with have been a surprise!

I love having a creative space, I love the sense of community,
I love receiving comments and meeting new people.

One of the discoveries I have made this year is that I love to write my blog posts.

It is my favourite part of having a blog. I love to search and ponder over what words I want to use. I enjoy constructing the sentences and the messages I want to use to encourage mothers.

It is like a delicate dance with the keyboard as I play around with paragraphs, sentences and my dictionary. I delight in the process and it is the main reason I love my blog so much.
It is the perfect platform for me to express myself by writing.

What is it about your blog that you love?

Is it coming up with blog post titles? Is it the actual writing of the posts?
Is it finding the pictures?

  1. I love it for all those reasons too - gives me chance to use that side of my brain that is a bit neglected when folding the washing :-) And the community is WONDERFUL as well!!
But I am also looking forward to the day when I look back at my blog as a document of this moment in time - like a diary. I think at the end of my 365 day project I will print it all out and bind it so I can keep it at home with me forever. (Although I doubt I will stop blogging after my 365 days :-))

  2. I have heard that some people print out their blog at the end of each year and have it as a coffee table book for the whole rest of the year for people and family to read. I think it is a great idea :)

  3. I love it for the same reasons as you, although I find it really hard to come up with good titles but love searching for pictures that really add to the content:) Nice to sit back and think about it. If you have any tips for creating good names for post I would love to hear them!! Jen

  4. now that is a good blog post idea - how to come up with good blog post titles - might have to do some research for that one!

  5. I love the whole creative process. I love to write. I love to come up with blog titles. I write my blog title after I write the post. After I've written the post, I go back through the post and if 3-4 words stand out, that becomes my post title.

I've heard of people making the books too, but I haven't done that yet.

  7. Hi Naomi, I hope you and your family had a wonderful Christmas:) I love my blog for all of the above reasons too. I also love it because I can share my projects or ideas with other like minded people and my blog also keeps me focused on what it is I am trying to achieve with our family and simple life in the country. I am a 'list' kinda girl, and my blog is kind of my list I guess, although I always struggle to think of post titles... :D I love the coffee table book idea! ~ x

  8. Hey Lovely One,

I love how blogging has given me a new lens with which to view my world.
Little moments in my day which I would normally discard are now highlighted as a stimulus for writing.
When I discover something beautiful in my world or in webland I write....it is such a wonderful experience. This is symbiotic as I have learnt SO much from fellow Blogeristas and enjoy the 'village' feel [which Maxabella wrote about recently].

In a short time, my little world has been made more delicious, and the icing on the cake....meeting wonderful friends like you!

    Hugs, Fx

  9. I agree with you 100% :) I love everything that blogging has bought me....friendships, a sense of community, a way of expression, a place to create & inspire & be inspired and a place I can call my own! But most of all, I just love having a blank screen waiting to be filled with every post I decide to compose. I love playing with adjectives & emotions & trying to put all my busy thoughts into easy-flowing words. I love jamming my posts with photos & memories so I can one day look back at it all....and relive it all again! Cheers to blogs I say :)

  10. Funny..I didn't expect to love it! I do though, right from the title to signing off...usually I'll get an idea, have fun pretending it's a major news item..to put together a title, I love humour, so silly puns and made up words appeal to me. I also incorporate the things I make in the title. The post itself is just a series of notes...just thoughts really. Most of the photos are mine, I just pick the best of what I've taken. Colours and themes just become obvious to me as the process continues. I also love commenting on other peoples efforts (as you can see..sorry..kind of!)and absolutley love reading and laughing over (often) comments that come back! I am amazed at other peoples kindness too, I often feel as though I've experienced a nice big bear hug...so thank you!

  12. I agree with all of that. It's just something for me a that allows me to be creative and expressive and simply makes happy :O) I once saw a sight that would print out your blog for you - I wish I could remember where. I'd love to do that and keep it as a snap shot of life with my little pinks.

  13. What a great question Naomi. It looks like we all are amazed at the way our blogs have affected us. My blog has turned out to be a creative outlet for me as well as therapeutic (that wast the most interesting part for me). I had been wanting a creative outlet for writing but was uncertain about how it would be received. I also wanted somewhere to share my photography - not that it's all that great but a place I can share what I enjoy doing.

A few months ago I decided I needed to make a hard copy of my blog so I'm copying and pasting my blogs and arranging them in a way I want, not in a format someone else has created,in a Word document when the year is done and taking it to have printed in our local printing shop so I can place it next to my scrapbooks. That's part of the OCD in me.

  15. My family (husband and kids) love to read my blog, especially the earlier posts from 3 years ago. It has been a great way to record my life with my kids. I also love feed back from other mothers and the connection it has brought with a few strangers.

  16. Hi Naomi, I agree with the other ladies & love the whole community feel about the blogworld.
I am probably the opposite though as the pics & recipes come first and then the words follow.
I don't write as much as I feel i can express myself better with pics.
in saying that..I am without a camera for the next few weeks & my blog posts have become fewer & fewer.
great topic, loved reading everyones reasons.

  17. Yet another good question posed, Naomi. I agree with all the sentiments above but my most important reason is the tremendous *relief* I have in getting the words out of my head to somewhere more permanent.

I have always been a deep thinker, the kind of person who takes an hour to go to sleep at night due to all the thoughts buzzing around in my head as I 'download' the day. Combine that with the forgetfulness resulting from my PND and I'm put in a frustrating situation. Blogging has helped me immeasurably in clarifying my thoughts. I also plan to print mine. J x

  18. I wish I had started my blog earlier so I had a record of what we got up to although it would have been a very depressing blog I think - and yes I so love to off-load my thoughts through my blog too! it is very helpful for me as a mother and woman.

  19. I love that I started blogging just before my first born because it is definitely a record of our family!

I love to see them grow, it makes me document the little things, it allows people to keep in touch with me now that I'm so busy at home, it's made me value being a mummy at home and this will sound silly but it keeps my brain ticking along and spelling properly!

I agree it's great to love blogging! I wouldn't do it if I didn't love it

  20. I definitely agree with what the other ladies said about blogging. I think blogging makes me appreciate the simple things in life, the small day to day blessings. It makes me truly look at my life and my world. I truly love blogging and the blogging community. I appreciate you, for becoming a follower and an inspiration to blogging.

  21. Hi Naomi,

Great post - like everyone else I am surprised with how much I LOVE my blog. I just started www.outsideofthebox.com.au in September this year and I knew it was something I would enjoy - but writing my posts and daily gift ideas is now something I really look forward to.

My blog is my creative outlet and if I don't contribute to it regularly I find myself getting antsy.

A couple of weeks ago my mum commented that I seemed a bit stressed and that maybe I was doing to much. She suggested that perhaps I shouldn't worry so much about my blog writing. I almost shouted at her (I admit I was a bit stressed!) that there was no way I was giving up blogging- it was the only thing I was actually enjoying doing that week!

I have already met some wonderful people through the blogging community and I learning new things constantly.

  22. I started a blog recently after years of following others...

My closest friends are childless so I love the mummy blogging community. I feel like I get the support, and inspiration from the other mummy bloggers out there that I'm missing from my friends.

Also, my husband is the only person who knows about my blog so it's handy to have a good venting outlet available!

And I love that it's a creative outlet when I feel like if I do another load of washing I'll pull my hair out! It helps to balance out the mundane chores of being a SAHM!

  24. Great post. I am new to the Blog game and I am still evolving to what I want it to be. I originally started it as a way to update my brother and family members overseas, but it has become more than that. I love that it will be a record of our family. I love that it has made me get creative with html editing and photoshop. I feel such a sense of accomplishment with every new alteration to the design and with every new post. I love seeing new followers and new comments. I love that it has made me exercise parts of my brain that have long been dormant.

  25. I love blogging because I've made new friends, I feel like I'm not the only one going slightly insane with the kidlets, and it's the cheapest therapy out there. I love my blog time and it gives me time out from everything. It's social without having to talk. I unwind, then I'm half human when I get to spend time with my hubby. Thanks for the great post!! And happy new year. xx
