Are you a mother that get's excited when you hear that Disney is unlocking the vault?
I have a few Disney favourites that I look forward to watching with my children and when I heard that Disney was bringing Bambi out of the vault I was hoping that my kids would enjoy it as much as I do!
With so many action movies out targeted towards children I was looking forward to having in our collection a movie that kind of slows you down. That brings you back to nature and helps children view animals in their natural environment {well, in early cartoon form!}. Bambi allows children to become more involved with the characters and to enjoy less talking, less action and more connecting.
Walt Disney Studio's is proud to announce the release of Disney's beloved animated classic, Bambi. Coming out of the Disney Vault for a limited time only, this movie will be available for the first time in high definition on Diamond Edition Blu-Ray and Disney DVD from March 30th, 2011.
Nominated for three Academy Awards including Best Song, Best Score and Best Sound in 1943, this tale of friendship, love and magic of life will enchant families all over again in high definition magic.
Bambi is another Disney movie that has stood the test of time. It was produced in 1942 and is still a popular movie with children today. A family favourite, Bambi tells the story of a young deer hailed as the 'Prince of the Forest' at his birth. As Bambi grows, he becomes friends with the other animals of the forest, including the playful rabbit, ‘Thumper’ and the bashful skunk, ‘Flower’.
But the fun of nibbling on fresh blossoms and frolicking through the woods is only the beginning. Exploring his new world, and guided by the wisdom of Friend Owl, Bambi learns valuable life lessons with every adventure ~ experiencing the power of friendship, family and love along the way.
We love to share with our children great memories from our childhood. We often do this over dinner or at bedtime where we can weave out a story to keep them interested and entertained. We also love hiring movies that we loved as children and showing them why we adored them and relating to them to our childhood memories.
Recently we had the opportunity to share Bambi with them. It allowed us to share a little of our childhood with them and to connect us with our children.
After the movie finished Sam came up to me and said,
"That was a great movie Mum."
I asked him why he thought it was such a great movie and he said,
"It just is."
I tend to agree with him.
It just is a great movie.

Hi there,
ReplyDeleteI am 35 but have two younger brothers who are 12 and 14.
When I was in my 20's and they were 2 and 4 they couldn't say my name 'Mandy' so what did they call me?
Mia, don't ask me why, I guess it's easy to say. So for a couple of years I literally became Mia. Even my mum would call me that, she'd say "hey boys, mia's coming to visit on the weekend" but then one day, when I arrived they came running to greet me and simply called me Mandy and Mia disappeared never to be mentioned again!!!!
My nearly 5 year old couldn't say 'upside down' when she was younger, so it's now known as ' upey downside'. We still all say it, and can't bring ourselves to correct her, it's too cute! We also will watch ' Bernie and Ert' from Sesame Street!
ReplyDeleteMy sister, when growing up (bear in mind it was the 80's) always wanted to put on her "shocks and scandals" in the morning. My mother usually relented and let her wear socks and sandals!
ReplyDeleteOliver at the moment says "soos and ocks" for shoes and socks.
ReplyDeleteI know that this isn't one of my kids but when my mum was little she couldn't say "Lemonade" so she called it "yemmy yarb!!" And then of course once I heard this when I was little I also have always called it this when speaking to my mum. It always makes us smile - cause seriously what is "yemmy yarb?"
ReplyDeleteMy little girl ever since she started talking has the cutest way of talking she never calls a baby a baby thay are always the little darling something she has always done and still does shes 4 now i hope she always says this its so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteMy daughter is now 13 months old and has some interesting names for things. I am Mama and sometimes "Elba" I have no idea where she got this, but it always means me.
ReplyDeleteShe also calls her dad "Bapa", which is strange as we have tried to teach her "daddy". So cute- I think they'll stick.

ReplyDeleteMy daughter called her brother Dom-Mock instead of Dominic.
ReplyDeletei think all kids go through a cute stage like that and love when mine did and miss it whether itsmawmaw or anything else
ReplyDeleteMy Little girl (2 yrs) only resently started saying 'pineapple', I rather miss her sweet little voice cheerfully saying 'piney apple'!
ReplyDeleteShe also enjoys watching the 'garbig BIG truck' come once a week to empty our wheely bins :)
It is also well known in my family that my mother as a child for years said 'purkle' instead of 'purple' and 'noodle' instead of 'needle'.
Most family members still now use Mum's creative words when talking to her.
ie. "Oh don't worry Mum, a noodle (needle) never hurt anyone!" :P
It's funny as only the people in the know get the joke and it remains a funny family thing.
I think my oldest was the best for these because she started talking at such a young age.
ReplyDeleteWe were in the car one day and she was telling me about cat wish stars??? Took me about 20 minutes to realise she meant whiskers!
Or we then have the famous magpyer. Can uyou guess what that is? It's vampire in 2 year old speak of course. LOL
Or what about getting a pickle out with some weezers? (prickle and tweezers)
cjtato@yahoo.com.au (just in case it's not attached). :D
Unfortunately creativity doesn't run in this family. But I still have a story to tell. My bub was being taken cared by my secretary at work when I was in an important board meeting. She said'mumm' to my secretary and from then on called my poor secretary that for a couple of months when I took her in.
ReplyDeleterogerxizhang@hotmail.com
When Nienna was a little younger she used to call omelettes, "egg pilots". The first time she did it took me ages to work out what she wanted LOL
ReplyDeleteMy boys had fun adventures when the car got 'Bobbed' in the mud recently. They also their swimming goggles - "gobbles" - both of the twins say it...
ReplyDeleteMy 19mth old daughter is starting to talk and at the moment everytime I tell her we have to pick up her brother from school - she says 'oooool'
ReplyDeleteIts so cute!
Oh so many things could be written here :) My boys think it's hilarious when their little sister (2 yr old) calls her face "my cheekies". She'll say something like "oh my cheekies are hurting" and they will crack up laughing. Obviously the boys are thinking of her 'other' cheekies ;)
ReplyDelete(little monkeys :)
Yes my little brothers use to call me 'Binny' instead of Bindy it was very cute... They both seem to do it as do a lot of little kids I've met maybe the 'D' sound is a bit hard?
ReplyDeleteEither way it's adorable!! Great competition!! Love you blog.
xx
Having 3 children I have so many funny things I could write here, the most memorable one would be my now miss 13's word, she used to say "Begemite" for Vegemite she didn't do to well will "V" words ;) the funny thing is Mr3 now says Begemite too.
ReplyDeleteX
Ps Bambi is my all time fav disney cartoon! I had thumper and bamboo painted on my cubbyhole house as a child.
"cubby house" damn auto correct on iPad :(
ReplyDeleteBahaha @ Ali "DYAC!!"
ReplyDeleteMonster calls biscuits "Skiss-skits", yoghurt "Go-go" and says "wub" instead of Love.
"I wub a skiss-skits, Mummy!"
Oh and he calls a Helicopter a "Doctor"
Oh, this is Liz @ Mumstrosity.com, stupid google.
ReplyDeleteI already follow your blog! The boys had a friend at kindy called Cooper and because little kids can't say the 'c' it came out 'Pooper' (hehe warning to those who are thinking about calling their baby Cooper!!). And one of my sons calls the computer "umputer". And this morning when we were at the shops looking in a store for something my son said "let's go in different erections Mum" it took a few seconds to realise he meant directions hehehe.
ReplyDeleteI am a follower :)
ReplyDeleteMy daughter hasn't called anyone a silly name as such but she does have funny names for things like she has colour that is a unique colour that she alone knows what it looks like and it and it is called "Purple Peach" and she has items she associates with people like when she sees a beer stubby or peanuts she says "Poppy's" "Poppy's!"
I come from a family of 5 children. When my youngest sister was 2, she demanded a "piggy back" from my older sister. But she couldn't remember the name for "piggy"... so she said "I want a biba back!" Since then, we've always called her Biba and all her friends think its the strangest name... it turns out she was trying to say "babi" which is the indonesian word for piggy!
ReplyDeleteyukitora@gmail.com
My 3 year old has always called me Mum, Mummy or Mumma but lately she's started calling me "Mummy Mr Frog Pooface!"
ReplyDeleteSo bed time is now ... "Goodnight Siennabear, love you!"
"Love you Mummy Mr Frog Pooface!"
I can only imagine where she picked it up!
My younger sisters were funny when they were little. One, when she was 4 realised that Prince Charming was in several Disney tales, and they had him looking the same in all of them. When she realised this she came up to me and said "Tawa. Pwince Charming is a CHEATER!"
ReplyDeleteMy two year old makes me laugh daily, too. We play a game where we ask him who everyone is.
I point to him & he says "Me".
I point to me & he says "MumMum".
I point to his dad & he says "Dad".
I point to his sister & he says "BubBub".
I will then correct him & tell him her name to get him to say it & he'll hold his index finger up and say "No MumMum... my BubBub!".
His sister will forever be known as "BubBub" :)
my little man makes me laugh everyday with the things he comes out with. At the moment he's having trouble saying "CH" it comes out like "SH" and "CK" when it at the end of a word comes out like "T". Not really a big problem except one of his fave books at the moment is 10 Chirpy Chicks! :) (which ofcourse he like to tell everyone LOL)
ReplyDeleteMy son was the funniest little thing.. He was forever mixing up words or mispronouncing them..
ReplyDeleteThe two i can remember where
Q-Ber-Bar" instead of barbecue
and
"Maggot Cheese instead of Macaroni & Cheese "
I really cant bring myself to make macaroni and cheese anymore because of this..
oh just in case my email isnt attached its cherienixon(at)gmail.com
ReplyDeleteMy brother couldn't say pocket when he was younger. He used to call it a pockle! As in "I put it in my pockle Mum."
ReplyDelete
