inspiration boards work

One of the ways I love to take time out just for ME is to make and create an inspiration board. I love to sit down with a bunch of old magazines to let my mind go crazy exploring, admiring and then cutting and constructing pictures or images that I am drawn towards.

Lately I have been drawn towards words. I have always loved words and have noticed that I have been including them in my inspiration boards more and more. They keep me focused.

For my inspiration board I use, I just picked up a cheap pin board from IKEA. I think it was $12 and I sit it by my computer where I blog and write. For this board I sat down and cut out any images that I liked. I had no theme in mind, just pretty things and wanted a collection that would make me smile.

I have been using this one for a while. It has uplifted me many times and during the week I noticed something wonderful. See below:

{Gosh! I miss Notebook magazine}
Does the above image look familiar???

I think they really do work!!
If you don't believe me go and ask Stacey, from Sunny Mummy.
Here are her instructions for making your own: HERE.

I am now creating a new inspiration board.
One that is full of goals and dreams.
More specific, more focused and more fun!

Have YOU ever made an inspiration board???
Have YOU ever noticed it worked for you???

  2. I have used vision boards for sometime now and they are fantastic. I have different ones for different things and it has been amazing to see what has come into my life that's on them.

They are great for lifting your spirits and helping you focus on goals.

  3. I'm thinking I should start a vision board. Maybe then I would work out what I want to be if I grow up. LOL

  6. Beautiful! The whole wall behind my computer is a vision board. Een though I'm a word girl, I really like being surrounded by inspiring or meaningful or just plain pretty pictures!

  7. Ah, Naomi, I miss my Notebook, too. Immensely.

Thanks for sharing your board - it's so *you*.

As you know, I recently made a board (http://www.lifeonplanetbaby.com/2011/03/creating-my-first-mood-board-sneak-peek.html) and have been staggered by how much it moved and inspired both me and others. I've now had it blown up into a huge poster which I'm going to frame and hang up in 'my' room once we've moved house. I can't wait! J x

  8. I'm also a sad loser in the notebook: game. It was such a good read. A bit wimpy at times, but some good stuff in there. And pretty... look at that lovely image you have there! What a nice reminder.

I love a mood board. I make them accidentally here and there just because i blue-tac stuff on the wallls wherever I go. It's pathological. x

So great at keeping inspiration alive :)

  10. Hi Naomi,

I have followed you over from AMB. I too miss Notebook!!! There's not another magazine like it.

I haven't created an inspiration board, but maybe I should...as I could do with some inspiration when writing my blog. :-)

I love the idea of having one for different reasons and especially love the idea of having a blog inspiration board. Now that would be fun. N x

I made one years ago, and it has all come true so far - except having a really fun job, which I'm working on with Fox In Flats!

  14. I love your inspiration board. I'm thinking I'm needing to do one. (I even have an IKEA pin board somewhere!)
I recently put up on the white wall along the entrance hall, all the words which represent our family. Words like..dance, believe,laugh...to name a few. The words are in white..so it kinda looks embossed on the wall. ( if that makes sense) :)It makes me smile when I look at it. :)
