I look forward to the school holidays to spend time with my kids and also to get some great reading in.
Every holidays I put together a collection of books to devour and enjoy.
Here is my current reading collection:
I love a variety to read and often read two or three books at the same time.
Do you ever put together a reading list???
What type of books do you normally read???

Oh me too, I am reading 4 different books at the moment :)
ReplyDeleteI will read anything depending on what mood I am in, but am currently loving Jodie Picoult and Fern Michaels and any homey/cooking book.

I love reading. I belong to a book club so at least 11 of my books are chosen for me... then of course there is my seminary reading, my scriptures, the church magazines. Plus more.....
ReplyDeleteCurrently I am reading Infidel by Ayaan Hirsi Ali.
Unfortunately there is not enough hours in the day ...I could curl up with a book for hours.
I love reading too! 'The Book Thief' was amazing, I am sure you'll love it. At the moment I am reading William Faulkner, 'As I lay dying,' Annie Proust, 'Bird Cloud,' Jillian Rodd's 'Leadership in Early Childhood,' as well as Sara Gruen's 'Water for Elephants.' Actually I also just bought Amy Chua 'Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother' as well but I don't dare start it until I finish one of the others. I love reading lots of different books at once according to my mood. I also love to read children's books for the sheer love of reading out loud. I want to read Ayaan Hirsi Ali as well...there aren't enough hours in the day!
ReplyDeleteI totally love reading. The girls are also avid readers, and I usually read several of the things they do so that I can keep up with what they are doing. We have all read several books together and usually try to read one over the summer, but we always read the scriptures together and everyone in my house loves fantasy, so we pass all the books around. There are some great books out there for them (and for me!)
ReplyDeleteI think I'll make a reading list based on the recommendations of you and your comments. Some of them I've heard of but some I haven't so should be interesting
ReplyDeleteI'm so impressed that you can read that many books during the holidays! I am currently reading Marian Keyes 'This Charming Man'. Its really long and is taking me forever. I love reading autobiograhies. They are nearly always easy to read and interesting. I also love reading more than one book at a time. I thought I was weird but its great to have a choice depending on the mood your in. Happy reading!

Funny but I've got two of the same books on my 'to read' list (between paper and my eReader) and have about 7 books on my list with another 5 waiting for circulation at the Library! Don't you just love having books laying around waiting for you to grab a moment and dive in?!?!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your school holiday!
For years I only read church books or parenting/self help books. I thought that as a Mom, that was how I was supposed to spend any free time I had, being a better mom. A couple of years ago my doctor told me I was too stressed out and needed to unwind more. I decided to allow myself to read a novel for the first time in a good 15 years. I enjoyed it so much.Once I gave myself permission to read for pleasure, I opened a whole new world for myself and haven't stopped.
ReplyDeleteI love historical fiction, sci-fi/fantasy and almost anything by Dean Koontz.
