It is an exciting time to have a blog here in Australia. Having a blog is becoming more and more popular. Women and mother's are using the internet to reach out more. They are using a blog to share what they know and what they have learned. They are having a greater influence.
Having a blog is all about connecting and sharing. The fact that you can write a blog post, publish it and get an immediate response to your ideas and thoughts is incredible. I love that many other women build upon what I share, that they take my thoughts, comment on it and turn it around to inspire me in my life.
Companies and business' in Australia are taking note and changing the way they do things. They are hiring social media staff to work with bloggers and are catching on to the influence we have. These companies are starting to see that we deeply care about what we share and write about and that we have power.
Having a blog allows you to influence others through your words and pictures. I take that influence very seriously. I know that what I share on my blog is read by many others. That they consider my point of view before making changes in their lives and even before making family purchases. I always try to be mindful of my readers before sharing a review and even when writing about motherhood or happiness.
I try to focus on keeping it real and I also try to uplift and inspire. Sometimes I worry that I am coming across as 'the ideal' when it comes to family life and that is not what I want my influence to be. I want my influence to be, that as a mother you can make a difference in your family life and to encourage more women to trust their instincts. I know that life can be hard, life can be tough, but it can also be wonderful and joyous and fun. You just need to seek for those moments and to embrace them.
Do you think bloggers have great influence?
Are you noticing a shift here in Australia?

Great post! I don't think you come across as "little-miss perfect", you are honest, but also obviously seek out the positives in life, that is such a rare thing in this glass-half-empty world.
ReplyDeleteKeep writing, you do it well.
Yes! I think that bloggers are making a great difference in the world! Thanks for being part of that! It's a neat way to interact, share, learn, and...download information as well as connect with others - even across the world. :) Thanks for a great site. You blessed MY life today!

I definitely think that bloggers are making a difference. We give our honest opinions, we're not swayed by advertising - because we only accept those we know are what we believe in. Great post Naomi. And no, you're not showing us the ideal - you're showing us what CAN be achieved if we put our minds to it. :)
ReplyDeleteI haven't really realised how much my blog has influenced people until the last 5 weeks after our 10 year old son passed away. I have been blogging for almost 6 years, and really just started it as a family journal, but now realise how much it influences so many other people. Since he has passed away I've had so many messages, comments and people telling me that my thoughts and beliefs that comes across from my blog posts have helped them in their THEIR lives. It gives me a lot of joy and strength to know that my son and his short life has touched others in many ways, including the way that they think about life, the meaning of it and what should be important.

Amazing the influence bloggers can have. When I first started blogging and reading blogs I was afraid it would develop into wasted time - but I'm finding that as I'm diligent about being positive in my posts and reading only what is uplifting, it's actually a really good thing. I think you've done a magnificent job reaching your objective, Naomi! Glad I've found you!!
ReplyDeleteI was at dinner with school friends last night when we realised we all had blogs - all three of us. How cool is that?
ReplyDeleteI am enjoying reading other blogs where ordinary mums (like you and I)are able to share ideas, admit their failing and brighten each others days (and so much more). I think that the internet and blogging open up a world to stay at home mums that they did not have access to previously. They can feel connected and supported without leaving the house. Thanks for your post
ReplyDeleteAh HUH!! - for sure!! I was saying this the other day. I think we are very blessed with the bloggers we have in Australia.
ReplyDeleteI think we have that real honest - this is how it is outlook and I think people find that refreshing.
Before I started blogging I had never heard of blogs ... then I found out that a friend of mine had a blog and we started talking about the topic. I kept on reading her blog and loved it. Didn't think I could do it, because I pretty much didn't know how. I was nervous and unsure, but thought oh what the heck I'll give it a go. So on Friday 18th July 2008 I started blogging, at first infrequently and with time more often. I don't always know what to write and I don't always know if my posts are interesting to others. They may not be interesting to everyone, but they will be interesting to someone. Recently I got involved in Blogtoberfest and it opened up a whole new world to me, gained some friends and followers and found loads of other blogs and I LOVE BLOGGING. It's a wonderful opportunity to express yourself and learn and grow and a way of connecting with other like minded people. There are awesome women out there and I've found out about them and their lives through blogs. And to Lisa King, I love your blog and think your family is an inspiration ... I've cried and laughed with your family and read your beautiful posts and yes, you do influence people and Noah's beautiful spirit lives on. So I am thankful for all the bloggers out there who share their lives with us. (Sorry for rabbiting on but thanks for your post).
ReplyDeleteLike so man y others, I only began blogging as a way to the all the sentences that constantly floated through my mind escape, and to keep in touch with interstate family. But while mine is still such a humble little blog in the grand scheme of things, it has give me great opportunities I'd otherwise never have enjoyed. Here's hoping the blogosphere continues to blossom in Aus!
ReplyDeleteLove your thoughts ladies and I am also hoping that the blog community here in Aussie continues to flourish as we work on supporting each other more and more. I have made so many wonderful friends on my blog journey and had no idea when it started just how awesome it would be. N x
ReplyDeleteI am very new to blogging but am absolutely loving it. I just want to sit and blog, and read other's blogs all day. It is great to see that there is a blogging community in Australia and I hope as I go on I can become more involved in it. Since I have been wandering the blogging world I've sat at my computer, laughing, crying, and digesting thought provoking posts that give me another viewpoint on my own ideas. My children think I'm losing my mind "mum's crying" "why" "she's reading another blog" but I'm having fun.
