colorific fun prize pack giveaway

I have mentioned several times on my blog before that my cherubs love to craft and create. I personally do as well and we were super excited when Colorific sent us a bunch of products to try out from the awesome range they have available. Talk about Christmas coming early in our house!

Check out what we crafted and created below:

This is really a fun activity to do with your kids. It involves creating a gorgeous money box and allows your cherubs to work with wood, paints and stickers. My girls loved working out how to put it together and planning how they were going to decorate it. Even Liberty was 'allowed' to participate with a little painting and the girls were really happy with the final product. It now holds a small stash of money and other special treasures, all under lock and key of course!
My boys are a little obsessed with cars and loved this pack. This was an awesome gift as previously at school my boys, along with Matt, have entered a few pine derby races and raced similar cars against other people. Normally for this they are only allowed to work on one car. So imagine the joy we have in our family now that there are now several other cars to add to the collection! Lots of fun to put together that involves creating with wood, paint and stickers. We actually have a Darth Vader sitting inside one of our cars and it looks really cool!

I have a cherub Sam, who loves to use his hands. He is just one of those kids that has to touch everything and know how it works. This was an excellent hands on gift for him for him to play with. He loves being able to screw the nuts and bolts together and even Liberty enjoyed playing with it. There was were only 2 wooden parts that we could not work out what to do with but the rest was a great beginner toolbox kit for cherubs to play with.

Now this one was probably the most difficult of all the packs for my cherubs to do. It involves a lot more concentration of colouring in and being careful with the colours and design. It is great in that all of the patterns are provided for you to trace and follow but I found my girls aged 8-10 really had to concentrate to make the pictures look good. It was probably the favourite for Liahona who loved the idea of colouring it all in to stick on the window. I would not let Liberty do it - she would make way too much mess! If she was a little bit older I would. My girls really enjoyed creating it though and we now have some cute designs on our window and fridge that they created.

Here are some snaps of the creating below:
A colourful result:

The lovely team at Colorific have given me all of the above packs to giveaway to a lucky Seven Cherubs reader. The winner will win all 4 packs. Awesome right? Perfect timing just before Christmas as well.

  1. As a cherub, a recipe card holder,
for my nan, who was getting older.
She put her special recipes inside
the ones that were new, and tried.
She loved the holder I made,
When it was old, to throw it out, she would not be swayed!!
    My nan is now gone,
but the recipe holder lives on !!!
    thanks for a chance.

  2. In technics at school we made lots of 'interesting' things- a wooden coathanger, a wooden spoon, a pencil box, a fire truck and the best of all.... a Christmas tree that you put candles on. (I must admit this one was never finished and stayed in the garage for years). Thank goodness my best friend's Dad was the teacher, as he 'saved me' and the wood. No wonder I always got great marks!

  3. In high school woodwork 25 years ago we made those flying ducks on wood that were to be hung on te wall. you know that period in time when they were considered tasteful decor? please tell me they were tasteful once......

  4. Remember making a paper towel holder. Didn't every kid do that in about year 7.
My mum probably still has mine. She is very good not throwing things like that out. I'd have gotten rid of it years ago.

  5. When I was a teenager I made a simple but gorgeous magazine holder. I remember how happy I was after varnishing it and then 'distressing' it to make it look a little antique!

  6. In year 4 I made a rocking chair pin cushion from wooden clothes pegs, it rocked and everything! Do clothes pegs count as wood??

  7. firstly, i want to say that i love kerry santillo's entry
    :)

    now for mine:

my five year old as gorgeous as can be
he made a candle holder for me
he used some wood and nailed it together
with a bottle top, isn't that clever?
he thought of it and did it all by himself.
he is such a clever little elf!
some beeswax candles we have made together,
a memory that will last forever
i know i am supposed to write about me,
but i made him, so you see....
that makes this a valid entry!

what a great competition! thankyou so much!

  8. I was in year 9 at highschool and we made a wooden chopping board in Wood Work. My wood work teacher pulled me aside and begged me not to to do wood work as an elective.

I made an absolute mess of my chopping board.

  9. I cut out shapes with a jigsaw
    Never considering it a chore
cute figures for the little one
    hand painted lovingly with fun

  11. When I was in Grade 4 I (with some help) cut out a wooden key shape which I decoupaged and stuck three hooks into. I still use it to hang my keys on :)

  12. A few years ago (as an adult) I decided my nativity dolls needed a stable to call home. I didn't have much in the way of tools, so I went to the park to collect some sticks, between 1-2cm diameter and snapped them as best I could to the right sizes. At home I had some craft wire, so I wired the pieces together - I had a hammer but no nails the right size. Then I wrapped rafia around the wire to make it look a bit nicer. I used a piece of brown material for a roof and there it was - a perfect stable! And as long as no one touched it, it stayed up all through that Christmas !

  13. The first (and only!) thing I've ever made of wood was a pencil box. I made it in woodwork and painted it in art class, and it still has pride of place on my Mum's computer desk!
It's been there for 10 years now ;)

  14. Little peg dolls - what could one expect when it was the 1970's, I was a child, and had not commenced schooling yet.

  15. I was lucky enough as teenager to do a student exchange to NZ,I picked some beautiful kauri wood scraps for nothing. The grandpa of the family I was staying with was kind enough to teach me how use his lathe and I made two gorgeous little bowls. I have pictures of me in a bright orange suit with goggle 'for protection' and I still have the bowls (I was worried they wouldnt make it through customs). Thanks Naomi, for reminding me of such a happy memory

  16. When I did woodwork in high school I made a pencil box and then when I met hubby he showed me a dice and a crocodile he had made when he was in school...I was really impressed because they looked good, were well made and he still had them years later!

  17. The best thing I made in year 10 Woodworkclass was a frame for a mirror. I made cute little accents using a lathe and then painted colourful pink and purple flowers all over it. I love it, I still have it!!

  18. What have I made out of wood? A forest! As a cherub I helped to plant thousands of trees alongside other school chums. The experience left me with a lifelong love of nature and the environment that I am working to pass on to my little ones. We live next to a nature reserve and spend many happy hours there collecting sticks, leaves, pods and counting the clouds between the swaying boughs <3

  19. Nothing. Nada. Nilch.

I have never made anything out of wood. :(

So, I think you should pick me out of sympathy for my completely deprived childhood - and then I could keep these for MYSELF!!!

Or tell Colorific to pop over to my blog and send me some too since I'm about as creative as a gnat!

  20. Preschool age i made a bird that stood tall... It is one large piece of wood shaped into a bird like structure glued onto a flat stand piece of wood, i'm sure i just sanded it a little and varnished it but at 4 it was a huge creation!
Primary school age dad had a lathe set up in his garage and i made a few table legs... although as none of them were the same i think i used them as antique columns to give my barbie house a little class!
High school and how i loathed woodowork, i made a note holder for the front door, serving tray for my mum and then against the rules i used the soldering iron in the room to burn some lovely bird images onto it... had to do this while the teacher was out of the room but i got great marks and they then brought in the correct tool and allowed others to do the same sort of thing.
Since high school, i've made a barrier for the room to stop my oldest getting into my kitchen, although it was just a large piece of wood i put in front of the door and tucked in behind the entertainment unit and table so he couldn't pull it over. I've made some wall hangers, although to be honest the wooden photo and round frames were already made i just added the material and stitched the designs into the middle.
Mr 11 and Miss 5 are always creating with whatever they can find, Mr 3 has picked up the bug and now i find mr 16months want to join in too.

  21. When we were little we salvaged some wood off our Dad,
and tried to make a cubby, although it looked rather sad.
We used rope and bits and pieces that we found,
and built our special place on the ground.
It was great place for dreaming and playing pretend,
reading books and talking to friends.
The process of making it was really the best,
although the weather was not kind and it ended up a mess!

  22. As a child: I worked with wood in many occasions with my dad: especially when building our tree house and also I remember once making a bow to play cowboys and indians.

As an adult: I've learned to do Mahori wood carving in NZ last year, it was fun!

  23. I remember making jewellry boxes out of paddlepop sticks to give as presents. I opened a drawer at my Mum's last week to find that after at least 30 years still still has one of my creations!

  24. When I was a Cherub I found a piece of wood in the backyard, I wrote Happy Birthday Nana on it and gave it to her on her birthday! She passed away when I was 17, I found it amongst all her things, I still have it and will keep it until I leave this world too.

  25. I can't take the credit for the carpentry, but 'Mrs Claus' has been very busy restoring an old dollhouse as a Christmas gift for my girls!

I've had so much fun sanding, painting and decorating. If my girls have half as much playing with it, then it'll be a success!
