A simply beautiful jewels post.
2 Essential earrings every woman needs in her jewellery collection.
As you know I adore jewellery and other women often ask me where to start in creating a jewellery collection. So today, I thought I would share 2 Essential Earrings I believe every woman should have in their jewellery collection.
These items are simple and classic pieces. The 2 choices would have to be pearls and diamonds. Pearls and Diamonds go with any outfit and can be worn anywhere at anytime. They both are super easy to match with clothes and to start you off here are the three sizes I recommend owning:
With pearls I would recommend a small pair to wear when you are hanging out around home, if you want something a little more subtle to go with a larger necklace you are wearing and want to feature or even when you go swimming.
The next medium size is great to wear for a more classic look with stripes and helps to bring out the white in an outfit you may be wearing. Pearls also go with any skin colour and I think they look great on everyone.
The larger size (which normally look a lot better than what mine do - I have worn them way too much!) look great when you are wearing your hair up and can totally help make an outfit. Large pearls and pearls in general can help give you a more sophisticated and elegant look if you are dressing up for an evening out but they can also be fun with stripes for a more casual look.
One of the reasons I love them so much is that they are versatile. If you are lucky enough to own real pearls you will truly value them and they are a great investment. They stand the test of time when it comes to fashion.
With diamonds I would recommend a small pair to wear when you are looking for a more relaxed and simple look. Often I like to wear smaller diamonds if I am wearing a chunky diamond necklace. So that it matches but does not draw the attention away from my feature piece of jewellery.
For the medium size I love to wear them during the day around the house and when I go out to add some sparkle to my outfit. I wear them with any other type of jewellery colour and with any colour outfit I have on. There is not one colour that diamonds do not go with!
With the large style diamond earrings I love, love, love to wear them nice and chunky when I go out. Often I will wear the larger style diamond earrings with a simple style necklace and especially when I have my hair up I love a chunky diamond earring to go with a hot looking hair cut.
I hope that this has been a little helpful and that if you are wondering where to start with your jewellery collection that you will add these two choices: diamond and pearls to you collection. I buy the cheaper style and brands and find that they last a long time and I use them regularly.
What jewellery would you recommend?

I don't have a lot of time to worry about changing my pieces daily, so I stick with a nice little pair of hoops. Either, the little sleepers, or a larger set (not the big bling style).
ReplyDeleteI find that my pearls & my diamonds (I only have a tiny set of each) I savour for the rare occasions I go out & about.
So small sleepers & medium hoops. Day to day & sleeping times, for school runs & so on. Teamed with a nice little stud set (diamonds, pearls, sapphires) for appointments (not school runs).
I sleep with my earrings in or my holes close (even after 20yrs of piercings). I have 2 holes left & right (4 total) so I normally have either sleepers or studs in the top 2 and only ever change the bottom 2 to either drops or larger sleepers/hoops.
:D
I love a nice pair of sapphires as well. Not just because blue is my favourite colour but because I always think they look lovely and classy. Simple can be so elegant and lovely. N x
DeleteLove it Naomi. I am not great at choosing jewellery and even though my Mum always looked fantastic and 'finished' she never really taught me her tips and tricks, so thank you!
ReplyDeleteYou are very kind Bianca and thank you. I love seeing women who have that 'finished look' and often they dress and wear very simple jewellery but look just beautiful. N x
DeleteGreat post Naomi.. I totally agree. I tend to rotate my diamonds and pearls around...love how they dress up any outfit.
ReplyDeleteThey do dress up any outfit and are a quick go to for me when it comes to jewellery. N x
DeleteI love the diamonds and pearls too - such simple items that really do "go" with with every outfit - casual or dressy. It also makes you feel great when you have taken the time to "finish" your outfit with some jewels (and it doesn't matter at all if they're not real - only you know!)
ReplyDeleteHa ha! Yes. No one will know if they are real or not - very true! It does make you feel great to know you have finished off an outfit. A rare thing as a mother some days! N x
DeleteNice write up. I really like this idea of talking jewellery as I am sure there is many (like me) who feel they know nothing and are not really very confident with it. I have a few diamonds and pearls - but it is a nice reminder to start wearing them more frequently. I like that you offer suggestions for what to wear them with. Looking forward to your next post. NGC
ReplyDeleteAppreciate the feedback and glad that you found my tips helpful. Hope you do get those earrings out and wear them more frequently. N x
DeleteMy earring staple is a big pair of CZ diamond studs. I buy them for about $20 from the chemist (other cheap brands hurt my ears). I like the sparkle and they go with everything. I can't wear dangly earrings right now because the baby grabs them.
ReplyDeleteYes, I am past the baby grabbing stage with earrings. I love checking out what earrings are for sale in chemists as well. Often they have a great simple collection with some awesome pieces. Totally worth checking out. Thanks for the reminder and tip. N x
Deletelove love my pearls and diamonds. really loving the elegance of my pearl earings at the moment too. Great post Naomi x
ReplyDeletePearls are elegant. Totally agree and so love that you are enjoying them. N x
DeleteTotally agree Naomi. Paul bought me some Diamond studs for my 30th a few years ago and I wear them as my everyday earrings but often I don't bother taking them out when I go out either, because I feel a bit naked without them on. I also have a diamond M that I wore for the first time on my wedding day (and gave them all to my bridesmaids too) and I pretty much never take it off. They are like my 2 everyday essential pieces of jewellery other than my wedding rings :)
ReplyDeleteHow right you are! Pearls & diamonds, real or faux (anyone remember Mademoiselle Coco Chanel?) are a staple.
ReplyDeletePersonally I have a reasonable amount of precious & semi precious jewellery and loads of costume jewellery. But then again I do make or up-cycle a lot of it! I am a bit of a bower bird!!!!
Even though, I don't have children, I have lots of friends & family who do. One of the main gifts for birthdays & Xmas is... surprise, surprise jewellery!!!
Yes, both wardrobe essentials. For our 20th wedding anniversary hubster bought me a pair of small diamond hoops and they are my absolute favourite and a wardrobe staple. Diamonds are a girl's best friend but mainly it's because my darling hubster gave them to me!!!
ReplyDeleteThese diamonds are looking nice, but not looking real in fact.
