Happy Days in May Project Link Up

This year for my blog happiness project I have been encouraging others to record a sentence a day for the month of May. As a busy mother I struggle to find time to write in my journal and I love having a project to help me focus on being more aware of what makes me happy each day. I also love to help others focus on happiness as well.

I love that this project involves only one sentence a day and a short time for me to reflect each night on what has stood out as a great moment during my busy day. This idea and project is manageable. It is simple and a way for me to put pen to paper quickly each day. It also allows me to be more grateful, to count my blessings and to be aware of my family and surroundings. I need that reminder right now.

So for the month of May I have been remembering, recording and looking for good, happy moments during my day. Some moments have been big and some have been small. All of these moments have helped me feel happier in my heart. I also look forward to this project every year as I love to read what brings moments of happiness to other's and to have a little insight into their lives.

So to start off with here is what helped me to have 'Happy Days in May':

1st May
Baking in the kitchen with my cherubs makes a big mess but also makes me feel happy to be a mum at home and I love it when we all enjoy the fruits of our mess making activity together.

2nd May
It makes me happy to see my cherubs busy, involved in activities, learning new skills and helping each other with homework.

3rd May
Day 5 of eating no sugar, can't believe I have made it this long and am already feeling better for it and wondering why I did not start this sooner.

4th May
Blankets, treats, family all snuggled up together on the lounge and a movie make a great Friday night.

5th May
Clean house for the weekend, bedrooms organised and de-cluttered and some technology time all make for a great day!

6th May
Reading + relaxing + church + family time = happiness.

7th May
Kids made me laugh when I came out to do lunches this morning and I found a sign that said, 'you fat pig' on the fridge, they sure know how to tell it to you straight and thought it was a very creative use of the small amount of letters actually left on the fridge!

8th May
Today I felt really content with who I am, what direction I am heading in my life and so grateful for my family and all of the goals I have achieved so far.

9th May
My kids make me laugh as here we are in May and they are still swimming in the pool and it is absolutely freezing, so brave and so crazy at the same time!

10th May
Parcels in the mail with books I have been dying to read = bliss and many late nights to come!

11th May
A hot bubble bath brings a small moment of happiness, time out alone and some time to think, time to soak and relax and an easy fix for curing the blues.

12th May
Crazy day driving all over town, I love the opportunity to rest and relax when it is all over and I am so thankful that I am able to care for my family and we are all happy and healthy.

13th May
Homemade cards and a lovely meal together as a family makes my heart burst as a mother.

14th May
Family night with a bunch of crazy cherubs always equals laughs, noise and a few disagreements!

15th May
Had a lunch date with Liberty at the park and it was so lovely with sunshine, ducks and giggles.

16th May
Moving furniture and rearranging rooms brings a fresh perspective and change to our home and family and a new sense of order.

17th May
Starting to feel exhausted with Matt away for the week but thankful my cherubs are helping me out to keep the house in order and running even though he is away and I appreciate the little things they do for me.

18th May
My kids come up with the funniest games and I love to see them all playing together and acting out different characters in the roles they play.

19th May
Today I ran my first 10K without stopping, it hurt really bad and I felt like the end was never going to come but I finally did it!

20th May
Happiness seems to come and go throughout my day and I realise it stays with me longer if I catch, grab and remember those moments.

21st May
Love a day cleaning and working hard to loud music and I find joy and happiness when I can cross items of my to-do list, simple pleasures.

22nd May
Today I discovered sugar free hot chocolate and it just made my day so much better!

23rd May
The little acts of service that happen around our home bring me happiness, putting toys away, clearing the table, helping each other with homework, making someone else's bed, all these small acts create happiness and unity and love, so lovely when I see it happening without asking for it to happen.

24th May
Today someone stole a Domino Pizza sign that listed pizza for $3.95 and stuck it in the lawn near my home, so I called up and ordered pizza for dinner and we got them for $3.95 because we had seen the sign and it was a wonderful dinner and blessing for us!

25th May
Today I played, 'the voice' with Liberty and she wanted me to draw lines all over her to be like Joel and even though I felt half disturbed by it, it also made me laugh to see how she sees the world.

26th May
A rainy day that kept us all inside and we lay around hugging, chilling, talking and disputing with each other, just the way large families should, great to know we are moving along just fine as a family

27th May
A new responsibility and a new challenge to keep me on my toes and I am thankful for the opportunity to stretch and grow.

29th May
New songs for running to equals happier running and loud singing on the treadmill.

30th May
Chelsea came home so excited that she stopped a goal in Soccer and her team won for the first time and I loved seeing her so happy!

31st May
Today I saw images of the plaques that Lisa King purchased for her darling husband and son and it made me cry happy tears to see what a difference you can make if you simply ask and try.

Taking this journey has been really insightful for me. It has helped me to feel happy but also has created extra happiness in my heart knowing that others are participating and joining in as well. 1. How is your No Sugar going? I have been mostly off sugar for over a year. i slip up, sometimes for days at a time, however, I always feel lousy after I eat poorly.

There is a great video segment form NBC's Sixty Minutes about the toxicity of sugar. search it and watch -it is about 15 minutes.

I enjoy reading a blog from across the world! We are just starting to enjoy summer!!!

  6. A lot of people love the idea of reporting every day with a single sentence- just imagine how our life would be presented day by day, an exploration of the ups and downs, even it can be summerized what was the percentage of "happiness" as opposed to "apathy", "sadness" etc.
