I have been feeling a little uninspired with my blog lately and have been wanting a new focus and plan. I have been feeling so uninspired that I have felt like throwing this blogging gig in and going back to writing in my journal as the only form of writing that I do each day. After some soul searching moments and excessive reading I have decided to give it one last go.
So I have come up with a new plan to motivate me and inspire me {because if I am not inspired by my blog then how on earth can I expect you to be inspired as well!} that will hopefully inspire you too.
Over the month of October I want to focus on and blog about my home. I have been working hard on following the plan by Katrina from The Organised Housewife to declutter and organise my home and at the same time I have started reading Gretchin Rubin's new book Happier at Home. With these two influences in my life I have been throwing stuff out and taking stock of the possessions in my home.
In the past I have been a little reluctant to share too many pictures and thoughts about my home because well our home is our sanctuary. It is personal and close to my heart. It is where we feel the happiest and find the greatest joy. We have so many sweet memories here and opening that up to everyone is a little scary. The thought of getting bad comments about it or the way I have decorated it kind of turns me off and I don't know if I could cope.
BUT, I know that many of you who read my blog are interested in how I keep my home in order with a large family and with how I decorate it. So with that in mind I am prepared to give it a go if you are interested.
This blog post is to let you know what I am thinking about doing and with what I am prepared to focus on over the next month and I would seriously love to know if you are interested in reading about it because if you aren't then I see no use in sharing it. This is not some attempt to get blog comments or to get more page views on my blog, I really want to know if you as readers of Seven Cherubs are interested in reading these kinds of posts. Please let me know in the comments section below if you would like me open up my home a little more and share with you what we do in the Seven Cherubs house.
Thanks xx

Hey Naomi, I totally get the hesitation in doing this but I for one would love to see 'how you do it'. It's a YES from me!
ReplyDeleteYes, I'm interested :-) I also enjoyed reading the Organised Housewife's challenge posts
ReplyDeleteNaomi, this is your blog. Your space. I would like to think that you can do what you like with it, talk about whatever you like. Us blog readers are curious creatures, we like to peek into other people's lives and see the links and connections and no longer feel alone. The only person you need to write for is yourself.
ReplyDeleteHi Naomi, if you feel comfortable then go for it! I love to see in other houses to get ideas, you never know what ideas or decorations you might see :)
ReplyDeleteA big yes from me. I'd love to follow you through this! I'm off to check out that book too! Hope you go for it!! xxx
ReplyDeleteYes
ReplyDeleteI'm a big Voyeur, I love to see other peoples homes. I love to see how other people sort things, store things, show their creativity in their homes. I like to look at the decorating too but I don't care if it's something that I don't like. We are all different and have different styles, so so what if I don't like yours? I certainly wouldn't be nasty about it, I'd just say to myself that that isn't for me and move on.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to seeing more of your life, but only if you are comfortable with it
Would love to read about your home providing you're comfortable with sharing :)
ReplyDeleteYes! and I promise I won't stalk you :)
ReplyDeleteYes I have so much respect and admiration for you would love to know a little mote about you. xxu
ReplyDeleteUgh sorry *more* *xxx* need to put my specs on lol
ReplyDeleteI'm interested in reading anything you write N :)
ReplyDeleteYes I have so much respect and admiration for you would love to know a little mote about you. xxu
ReplyDeleteYes!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely!!
ReplyDeleteHi Naomi, I would love to hear about how you keep your house/family organised, but only if you feel you want to share that with all of us. Thanks, Julie
ReplyDeleteI vote YES! As a Mummy of five, I would love to see how you organise your home. Love seeing other people's ideas and getting excited about implementing it.
ReplyDeleteMeg
YES!!!!! I love what you write about :)
ReplyDeleteRemember your blog your rules. Whatever you are comfortable in sharing. I think it is that you write sincerely and from the heart that keeps people coming back so I am sure that will continue xx
ReplyDeleteHi Naomi - I enjoy reading your blogs and I must confess I LOVE seeing what others do in their homes to get organised. Having you blog about how you feel is a wonderful "reality check" for those of us - okay, me - who for whatever reason don't get to chat with their gal-pals throughout the week...so pleeeease don't stop blogging!!
ReplyDeleteSince your planning to get even more organised than you already are, I thought you might like to check out the following website if you haven't already checked it out - www.flylady.net. A friend put me onto the site years ago and I've loved the encouragement and great ideas along with the help to put routines into place to keep my home in order. Cheers, Georgie
I think this would be fabulous.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely Naomi!
ReplyDeleteRonnie xo
I'd be hesitant like you too but you know people have to enjoy you and your home for you, and not expect too much but only what you wish to share. I take my hat off to you for allowing us in. I think it's a great idea!!
ReplyDeleteEveryone's lives are different and also how we decorate our homes is truly special to the ones that live within that special place and that's all that matters.
I say go for it and your always in control as to how much you share. Have fun Naomi xxx
Go for it! You seem to have a lovely community of readers who will be supportive of this venture. Can't wait!
ReplyDeleteLove to read about whatever you write as always
ReplyDeleteI for one love those posts.
ReplyDeleteI have always liked the posts about your home the most. I struggle to maintain order in a home of 5, so I find it very inspirational that your home of 9 is orderly and well maintained. Yes, please write about your home!
ReplyDeleteALSO - please don't quit blogging. You are one of the shining stars of the blogosphere, it wouldn't be the same without you.
xx
Yes. Absolutely yes!
ReplyDeleteLove to read all your writing Naomi x
ReplyDeleteNaomi, i agree with some of the others, this is your blog and i'm happy to read whatever you post, and yes, us readers of blogs are a little curious of others, but I agree, it helps us not to feel alone, and helps us in the chaos of our own lives and homes.
ReplyDeleteYes!!!
ReplyDeleteI completely understand your reluctance but I love all things organised, so would love to know how you keep it all together.
ReplyDeleteI think you need to do what feels right for you. You say you don't feel inspired, maybe you need a really good break. maybe your body and mind are asking you to stop and smell the roses. Please only do what you feel happy and comfortable doing. So many times as wives and mothers, the pressure we put on ourselves is so much greater than anyone else puts on us.If my walk into severe disability with M.S. has taught me anything, it's that somehow our gut knows what is and isn't right and good for us, I only wish I had the confidence to believe that of myself when I was much younger. Please just take care of yourself Naomi. I don't know how to comment any other way than by saying I'm anonymous, so that's what I'll come up as, but the comment is from Dawn Taylor
ReplyDeleteWhile yes it would be great to see, I totally understand your need for your home to be your sanctuary I feel exactly the same way with my home. Maybe you could sketch or draw plans to show the organization rather than photograph your actual home. Good luck with whatever you decide :)
ReplyDeleteHi Naomi! I really enjoy reading your blog. I am a SAHM, and a sufferer of depression, and reading your blog is a lovely breath of fresh air.
ReplyDeleteYou are real. You are not perfect, but you are doing perfectly the job that God has intended for you <3
I would love for you to share about your house. I love my house. It is my sanctuary as well, so I know where you are coming from with that!
Maybe this is what you need! Inspiration is usually a two way street. You inspire us, and we can help inspire you back.
Just a thought! =)
Absolutely.
ReplyDeleteIm a YES!
ReplyDeleteNo don't stop blogging ... absolutely you can definately inspire some us of out here
ReplyDeleteNaomi, I think it would be a great idea because it will help inspire YOU. You have so much to offer - you're probably just a bit burnt out by giving so much.
ReplyDeleteI too have been feeling uninspired and "wordless" and had stopped blogging regularly. I hit a point where I struggled to hit the "publish' button without panicking. I recently decided to restart my blog by sharing images and stories about my garden. I'm finding that because it's something I'm passionate about and know so well, it's really easy to get something out there. It's starting to break down my hesitation, and I know I will soon be writing and blogging again with gusto (which is just as well, as I have about 4 article deadlines looming!)
I'm sure that if this little "diversion" works, you will soon find ideas exploding about you... and like everyone else above, I'm kinda curious how you manage your large family ;-) Look forward to reading all about it.
Great I'd love to see your home & would love to hear more about how you manage it all. As the Mum of 4 full on boys, I am always up for some tips & inspiration on how things run in the home. Niki x
ReplyDeleteYes absolutely but again I say that you have to do what makes you happy and what you feel comfortable doing.
ReplyDeleteyeah for sure, i'm interested in doing both too, i can't promise i'll always comment but i will be there reading :)
ReplyDeleteI am always looking for inspiration and ideas from fellow bloggers. Would love to see how you do things.
ReplyDeleteI say YES go for it girl. I love reading your posts, I don't leave comments and perhaps I should. I love looking at pictures of other peoples home, love being inspired. It doesn't matter if their styles are different to mine, or something I wouldn't choose, it is so interesting sharing tastes and styles.
ReplyDeleteI say go for it hun - whatever makes you feel good and inspires you is wonderful. I for one LOVE have a sticky at how others manage their homes. xx
ReplyDeleteDo it Naomi, I think you will enjoy it xx
ReplyDeleteDo it Naomi, I think you will enjoy it xx
ReplyDeleteI feel the daily struggle of keeping our house a 'sanctuary' with three kids under 4. I'd love to see what your tips are.
ReplyDeleteI love reading your blog. Although I don't always comment, I very much enjoy reading what you write. I have felt like giving up the whole blog thing on occasions and even get to the point where I don't blog much for a while. I think we all go through that at times, I think it's normal for everyone. Thank you for sharing and I will be eagerly following your writing about your house and any pictures you might put up. Happer at home looks like a really good book and I'd be very interested to read that.
ReplyDeleteYes please. I love reading what you have to say and I've even started following you on facebook. Like so many other comments you HAVE to do what makes you confortable, only do it if you want. I can honestly say that from all the comments you have received so far NO ONE wants you to stop blogging and we all enjoy reading what you have written. I'd also like to see what you do to maintain your house of 9 as I am struggling with just 6.
ReplyDeletexxxx plus hugs
I love reading your blog! Please don't stop! Blog about what ever you feel comfortable with sharing. I will continue to be a loyal reader. x
ReplyDeleteyes please!
ReplyDeleteI would love to read this Naomi :)
ReplyDeleteOne of my favourite posts of yours is the one where you share details of your pantry and dining room.
ReplyDeleteI love knowing how you manage and cope with such a large family and keeping your home in order and I would love to know more!
I find it hard enough just cleaning up after my partner and my 1 year old, any inspiration is warmly welcomed!
Jess
xx
Surely all blog readers are big fat voyeurs at heart?!
ReplyDeleteWow! What an awesome response. Thank you so much for your feedback everyone. N x
ReplyDeleteWonderful Naomi! Looking forward to the coming posts ...
ReplyDeleteoxox
Yes Naomi. would love to see whats happening at home. A little blog break every so often does the world of good though. Jx
ReplyDeleteI'd say go for it Naomi! I would love to see how you do it, even if it isn't perfect, because, hey we're all human after all right? ;) and with 7 kids, I'm curious to see how you do it and still have some semblance of sanity. xx
ReplyDeleteAs a mother of 3 I am in awe of you and how you do it all with 7! I would love love to hear more about this...and I hope it brings you the inspiration you are seeking.
ReplyDeletex
Yes Naomi! You are the only blog I read for fun and enjoyment about how you cope with a large family. I was an "only child", and having 5 gorgeous cherubs of my own can be a bit alienating for me at times, and bewildering. I love going back and re-reading your old posts about things that are relevant in my life now, and they really help me to cope! Thank-you so much! Please don't go back to writing in your journal! I love that you share so much, and are so open. :D (The only other blog I read is the Organised Housewife, and that is for a different reason!!)
ReplyDeleteyes, yes, yes :) xxx
ReplyDeleteI love your blogs but normally I'm not the type to comment - so just wanted to say that I love the way you keep your blogs simple and honest - do whats right for you and your family but just wanted you to know you're a blessing and an inspiriation :) xox
