kids craft: button mobile for your kids bedroom

One of the bedroom's in my home for the girls has a rainbow colour theme to it. In one of the corners of the bedroom there was an empty space. So I decided to create a button mobile to hang above the bed to add some more colour and fun to the room. It was really easy to make and fun to do with my girls.

I did not want to go out and buy anything new for it so I used items we already had around our home.
Here is what I used: buttons, string, glue, scrap material and a coat hanger.

First of all, I bent the coat hanger into the shape of a square. Then I wrapped the scrap material around it and cut four pieces to hang in each corner and joined them together at the top. Then we cut different lengths of string and thread buttons along them. When we thread the buttons on we knotted each one to stay in place along the way.

Then we glued buttons on the opposite side of each button already attached to the string so that when the string turned around you could see buttons on each side. When the buttons were dry we tied the string to the coat hanger in different places and then attached it to the roof.

We had fun picking the colours of buttons and designing it together and we are really happy with the result. A cute button mobile to hang in the girls room to add some more colour and fun.

  1. Fantastic use of things around the house. What a great job you've done. I really really love what you have done with things from around the house. Good Recycling.

  2. Looks fantastic! We did something similar last year with ribbons - its so much more satisfying when you admire the bright and pretty colours afterwards when you know you did it yourself for almost nothing. I love the bright colours of the buttons
