SKYLANDERS GIANTS Review + Giveaway

We are MASSIVE Skylander fans in our house. I have shared how much we love the game previously HERE. With the anticipated launch of Skylanders Giants, my children have been going crazy waiting for it to hit the shops and have been talking, planning and searching for any information they could find to learn more about the game and what characters were going to be revealed. So as you can imagine I received the mother of the year award when I was invited to attend a special Skylander Giants launch event in Sydney. Whilst there I had the chance a play the new game and was introduced to some of the fun new 'giant' characters.
Our family was very excited to receive a copy of the new Skylanders Giants game to review. My boys went absolutely crazy the day it arrived. They were jumping up and down, hugging each other and it was hilarious to watch. These Skylanders characters in a way have become friends to them and they were ecstatic with the thought of adding more to their small Skylander collection. See below:
Full of excitement!
After I calmed them down!
Here is what you want to know about the Skylanders Giants game:
*The new Skylanders Giants game comes with a new portal of power which requires no batteries. It simply plugs into your Wii console. It is also really cool because it changes colour.
*For people that already have the original game and portal, they can purchase the portal owners pack, which comes with the new game (the CD disc that goes into the console) and a new giant character. No need to purchase a new portal.
* For people that are new to the whole franchise, they can purchase the starter pack, which comes with the new game, a portal, and three characters (including one giant). The old characters are ‘forward compatible’, so you can use the toys from Spyro’s Adventure in the Skylanders Giant game, however the characters from Skylanders Giants are not backwards compatible, so you couldn’t put your Giant character in the old game as it’s not made for it.
*The Giant Skylanders are new characters who are super size and have super powers.
*LightCore Skylanders light up when you place them on the portal of power. They feature additional in-game benefits, and also require no batteries.
*The series 2 Skylanders {Skylanders Spyro’s Adventure characters} have new power upgrades and can even increase their level cap from Level 10 to Level 15 in Skylanders Giants.
*All of the characters from Skylanders Spyro’s Adventure are 100% compatible with the Skylanders Giants game and new portal of power.
*The Skylanders characters have brains and remember their upgrades no matter what portal they are placed on.
*Portal Masters {players} will see all new arenas and additional gameplay options in Battle Mode for exciting head-to-head play, as well as enhanced Elemental Zones, new Hero Challenges, and other features that encourage players to collect and level-up every character.
*Skylanders Giants also features closer integration with Skylanders Universe - the large online world that allows Portal Masters everywhere to greatly expand their Skylanders experience.
So I have to say that my kids are loving the new Skylanders Giants game. If you don't believe me check out 'The Skylander Wall of Fame' they have in their bedroom. Did I mention my kids are serious about this game!?! If you are interested in learning more about the game I recommend checking out the Skylanders Website or Facebook page. Now seeing as we love this game so much we wanted to share some of the Skylander joy and have a giveaway for Seven Cherubs readers. Not probably overly creative, but I would be transported to heaven and my super power would be replacing all the lost time with my mum. She passed away aged only 49, 9 years ago. I was only 26 and my son, her very longed for grandchild, was only 15 months old. Life has been so different that I expected it would be and to be able to catch up with her would be beyond amazing.

  2. Now my son is busting for this, but alas my shopping for xmas is done! I think I'd give myself the power to make myself invisable. that way I could disappear when there is nagging, I could make a quick exit when i see someone I want to avoid oh and the fun I would have.

  3. I would love to be transported to the gorgeous Greek island of Santorini... to enjoy warm nights, cold ouzo, and amazing sunsets, all from the balcony of my own little private villa! My super power would be to be able to lose weight with the simple click of my fingers... then I'd be able to enjoy all the chocolate in the world without feelings of guilt!

  4. I asked my son, Casey 7, seen as he is the super duper obsessed one with this game. He replied, that if he had his own Portal of Power that he would go back to the dinosaur times so he could see how humans started and how hot the asteriod was that killed the dinosaur's. His super power would be a flying invisable boy so the Terradactyl couldn't eat him and find out all the secrets from the dinosaur times lol.

  7. I would transport to Canada to visit my Mom in the years before she died, because my super power would be time travel. On a lighter note, with my power of time travel, I would also travel back to 1985 so I could refuse to let my Mom dress me in that horrible metallic blue dress with electric blue eye shadow. That pic is too embarrassing even to share on the blog!

  11. This is the answer my 5 1/2 year old gave, as I thought he should answer because he is the one IN LOVE with skylanders in our house.... "If I had a portal of power, I would like to be transported to the skylands to meet all the skylanders and my super power would be that I could leap into the air and squash baddies"

  12. To be transported to the Moon with the superpower of being able to exist in non-air environments so I could have a few hours of tranquillity each day

  13. Naomi, when I first saw this promotion on your site, I had to skip over it as I'm getting a bit worn out by the Skylander obsession at my place. That said, the boys are absolutely CRAZY for this, and if I won it'd make me instantly awesome in their books.

Right now, I'd love to be transported to the Barossa Valley to celebrate my big brother's birthday ( I miss him!) and my super power would be to not let the Mean Girls get me down. Been feeling a yicky vibe lately from some and while I'm trying to be cool about it it still hurts.

  14. This is the answer from my 7 year old obsessed with Sklyanders child, Zach:
"I would like to be transported to a factory with machine guns and top security. And my power is that I can summon bombs from the sky. But I have loads of upgrades, including: Mega Bomb Fall, Triple Bomb Fall, Bomb Shield Fall, Whole Screen Bomb Fall, Rolling Bomb...it keeps on going!!!"

PS: I have no idea what this all means, but he's jumping out of his skin ;)
