Last week, I set up a cheap and easy homework area in my kitchen/dining room.
I sits under my kitchen bench and there is still enough room for kitchen stools to line up along side it.
I picked up the white cube shelves from K-Mart for $19.
I picked up the circle baskets for $2 each also at K-Mart.
I picked up the clear pencil/pen holders also from K-Mart for $1.
The white basket I already owned as well as the stationary supplies.
The large basket on top is our homework change out basket.
It is where we keep the readers and library books and bags.
It is also where my older kids normally store extra books for different subjects.
Very easy to put together and easy for my cherubs to see what supplies they want to use and need.
So far it is working really well for us.
Love a cheap and easy storage solution!

Brilliant. That is all. Love Niki x
ReplyDeleteThanks Niki. So easy to put together and affordable as well!
DeleteMy hubbie made us a table, long and low just with some wood, glue and nails. It works really well, but I have one at school so far only. Long term we might need a change!
ReplyDeleteWhat an awesome hubby!
DeleteI love this! Thank you Naomi x
ReplyDeleteLove this idea Naomi. I did a similar idea in our study where i pay bills and deal with school notes etc. I have everything i need there and even a radio for a bit of music.Don't we all love organisation!
DeleteThanks so much. I think adding some music would be great to keep me sane but not to distract the kids :)
Deletegreat idea.... looks really nice
ReplyDeleteI need something like this. I don't know how you keep it so tidy though. My two have so many books and thinks to lug back and forwards to school!
ReplyDeleteI feel sorry for my kids with the amount of stuff they have to drag to school. Most of it stays in their school bags and they change it out in the morning so I don't have a big pile of books to deal with. N x
DeleteOoh I am loving this!
ReplyDeleteCheap, easy and fabulous!!
I am now just trying to figure out where I can fit this in our tiny house...Hm.
Thank you for the inspiration Naomi!
Good luck finding somewhere. I am loving it myself. Kids are too!
DeleteI just did a drawer (for those with space issues)- at the end of the year a mum at school said they put together a pencil case filled for each of their children for christmas. NOT for school but for HOMEWORK as just in my house we were always scrambling for a pencil or pen with embarrassingly alot of homework done in blunt colour pencils as that was all we could find. I thought it a great idea and cleaned out a a draw and bought up some of the cheap $3 school sets from kmart that had pens, pencils, rubber, sharpener etc. Cute drawers though, my house is wayyyyy to small unfortunately :(
ReplyDeleteThat is a good idea as well to have a spare pencil case for homework needs. Thanks for sharing.
DeleteThat is AWESOME! I am so going to remember this for next year when my Little Miss goes to school!
ReplyDeleteThanks Jasmine. I hope it helps when you cherub attends school.
DeleteI'm on the look out for some after school storage ideas. But I think I'll have to file this idea away until my triplets are big enough not to get into mischief. I shudder to think what would happen if they came to your place - it wouldn't be pretty!
ReplyDeleteHa ha! Caitlin. I love that you think there will be a time when they won't get into trouble :) Just joking!
DeleteI saw these at KMart just last week. I might pop down this afternoon and see if I can find some. One too many lost library books happening here (a cardinal sin in this home).
ReplyDeleteYes! I hate it when a library book goes missing! Our house has eaten a few!
DeleteYou mean one day my kids will be old enough that I can store pens at floor level, and it won't mean world war three!!!! That news just made my day. Lol.
